At PU, they're working on making the Internet even more of a collective mind than it already is and have created an interactive poetry experience that only confirms my feelings on two things: (1) I am an author, not a critic, analyst, or academic, and I find the idea of this sort of gazing into the navel of someone you can't possibly truly know as a person misleading and distasteful; and (2) cool interactive stuff always sounds cooler than it is, and in the end is mostly just a bunch of thin-worn tricks and gizmos. (1) will be an essay when I get a round tuit and a chance to reread Patrick McGrath's Asylum, an entertaining example of an author fucking with the heads of those who hunt personal clues in fictional narrative.
