I meant to post a while ago about Bite Not collars. They're a great alternative to (clunky, awkward, miserable) Elizabethan collars for pets that have to be restrained from, say, chewing at sutures. Right now they're available only through vets, but my vet doesn't stock them and if not for a sympathetic vet tech (brainstorming with me on possible solutions for a Harry Houdini kitten) I wouldn't have known they existed. Alas, the small size isn't small enough for kittens, but I'm keeping the one I picked up; it's good to have on hand.

It is so clear to me that you do not have my dogs :-) When they work, though, I'd imagine they're much better than the other ones (at least you're not getting clocked all the time).

I actually tried one of those with Riley but it didn't work. On the other hand, she considered the Elizabethan collar a weapon and was very happy with it :-)

It did occur to me that with a dog like, say, a huge powerful Rottweiler, they might not be as effective. Maybe if they made the body straps out of something stronger? Padded molecular monofilament? *g*
