You know what sucks? Falling asleep on the sofa while watching a movie, sometime around 1 or 1:30 am, and waking up to find that the clocks on the cable box and VCR, which are all you can go by since your watchband broke and your watch went missing, reset themselves to daylight-savings time.

It's eight o'clock, you think, but you remember the time change for once and think, But no, wait, it's actually seven o'clock! And then you check the kitchen clocks, which say nine o'clock, and understand the depth of the other clocks' betrayal.

I didn't get the hour back! I wuz robbed!!

I've never seen that word writen. Is it a slam on Gypsies, do you think? Not that *you're* slamming them. It just made me sit up and blink.

Web 10 (Webster's New Collegiate 10th Ed) says it probably derives from "gypsy." How politically incorrect! Hmph! Same as welshing on a bet, though that gets mutated into welching, which makes it sound like reneging is a slam on grape jelly.
