Today is World AIDS Day--the twenty-fifth anniversary of the first reported AIDS case--and the Human Rights Campaign has released its third annual report card. HRC president Joe Solomonese's sober, informational one-minute video message is over on YouTube, and the HRC offers a take-action page where you can generate an email urging your representatives to make reauthorization of the Ryan White CARE Act a priority. Here's the HRC's page listing the latest statistics on the HIV/AIDS crisis.

Also worth a few minutes' online time today is the Washington Post's Living HIV Quilt, an interactive picture collage of DC residents and AIDS workers, with video links to engaging interviews that play as an overlay right on the page.

Later-in-the afternoon update:

[livejournal.com profile] jefffunk's lovely linky bannery post here reminded me about Light to Unite (light a virtual candle and the sponsoring company will donate a dollar to finding a cure) and also reminded me that a family member had told me that there are distributed-computing setups now for other projects in addition to SETI. FightAIDS@Home is one of them, and I'm signing up.
