1. What vehicle do you drive?
A 1989 Dodge Colt.

2. How long have you had it?
Since Mitsubishi foaled it.

3. What is the coolest feature on your vehicle?
The fact that after fourteen years together it is an extension of my body, perfectly molded to me, responsive to the merest hint of thought, like a loyal horse that moves and turns with a shift of the rider's weight or the press of a leg, no reins required. And considerate: it breaks down only in safe places.

4. What is the most annoying thing about your vehicle?
It broke down.

5. If money were no object, what vehicle would you be driving right now?
My 1989 Dodge Colt. (It's a big repair bill.)

Eek!

Happy car thoughts.

I had a big repair bill on Oscar about a year ago. I feel good about buying my next car rather than go through what is an inevitable 'nother big repair bill within the next six months. i've already named the new car Ilse, which could be bad if it shows up and isn't a VW.

Whenever Ilse does arrive, though, I hope to make her last a good 14 years.

I had the Turdmobile until it was 13 years old (though we bought it used, I forget at what age), a VW Rabbit that served us well until I bought the Colt and it gave its last summer to a friend who needed a car for his summer home from school. I'm very animistic about cars; I think they're alive. They seem to respond to that belief. :)

I look forward to the advent of Ilse!

Oh. My. God. I used to have a Dodge Colt. It wasn't a 1989, though. I think it was an '81. When I traded it at the dealer the guy who bought it from them called me up because he was so excited to have it. He'd been looking for one that was an automatic and, voila! there was my car.

I'm driving a Subaru Outback now (dogs, you know--plus, me like all-wheel drive). It's my third Subaru and I've been really happy with them. I had my last one for 10 years and hope to keep this one that long too though I see that I'm way behind you-all in the aged and worthy car category.

Coolest feature? Heated seats!

Those Subarus are great. I know some people who drive those. Amazing that you used to have a Colt! I don't know anyone else except an extended-family member who ever had one.
