Oct. 9th, 2003 11:57 pmToday I refinanced my mortgage. Came home to find the grotesque ugly urns and ragged flagstone at curbside in front of my house replaced by a grassy sward and a lovely baby tree. (I'd arranged for this to happen a while ago, when I had to accept that I wasn't going to do the job myself, but then the landscaper got delayed.) I'm not sure how many trees were killed to produce all the paper I signed at the closing, but one hopes there is symmetry.

Date: 2003-10-10 07:22 pm (UTC)I've been trying to refinance for two years now, but every time got laid off from my day job smack in the middle if it. However I am actually about to accomplish it with a self-employed kind of status. Yes, I get a horrible interest rate, HIGHER than what I have now, and a 3-year fixed then variable instead of 30-year fixed like I have now -- but I get my hands on all that equity, at last!

Date: 2003-10-11 06:09 pm (UTC)Vi, I can imagine how yummy all that equity will be! And, although I hate to say it, you can always refinance again later if the situation changes and a better deal comes along.
It's sort of like moving. You swear you'll never ever ever ever ever do it again, but sometimes it's actually worth the time and cost, to get into a better place.
(That said, I never ever ever ever ever want to refinance again. *g*)
