I meant to post this before. It was a pre-invasion objection, but it's still worth linking to, still a valid sentiment:

SF Authors Against the War

I'm still against the U.S. military action in Iraq. It seems that a lot of people believe that makes me somehow against our troops. That's very sad.

I think that's because the administration is spinning it that way and most people are sheep.

it doesn't help that there are people on the radical left who are actively hoping the US loses cause it would "serve us right", which is approximately the same logic that some people use to defend the actions of the 9-11 murderers.

Hoo boy. I hadn't heard from those serve-us-right folks.

I was going to "sigh" here, but I fear I'm running plumb outta sighs.

I know what you mean here, but I guess the other side is that some people find this a difficult distinction to make. I have friends whose son-in-law is over there and they get a lot of crap from people who are against the "war". As if it's the soldiers' fault.

I'm with you: against the fighting, but for everyone who has to endure it.

That totally sucks.

It's like everyone's getting blamed for bad things except the guys who are causing the bad things.
